Improving Health Outcomes for Residents in
The Normandy School District
Obesity is a growing problem in the communities within the Normandy School District. More than 40 percent of the community is overweight and/or obese, and the community reports higher diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol rates compared with nearly all of St. Louis County.
Funded in part by a grant from the Express Scripts Foundation, Beyond Housing's Destination: Healthy Community Fun Run/Walk and Health Festival event helped residents learn more about healthy living and the local health resources available to them. It also made screenings and other services available in a convenient, no-cost setting.
