Giving back to veterans at the National Golden Age Games
Physical activity and friendly competition engage the mind and the body, and recreation therapy fills a special need in the lives of older military veterans. That's the purpose behind the annual National Veterans Golden Age Games, which gives veterans over age 55 a chance to compete in 14 events such as swimming, cycling, golf, table tennis, and dominoes.
ÂMore than 700 veterans participated in this year's week-long event, held in St. Louis. Twenty volunteers from Express Scripts served meals, timed events, greeted participants at the airport, and assisted with registration. These volunteer efforts helped the entire event run smoothly and ultimately improved the quality of life for the veterans who participated.
