How Does Select Specialty Work?
Select Specialty is a communication campaign that applies the principle of choice architecture, essentially helping the plan member make an active choice of where to receive their medication. Studies have shown that plan members who play an active role in their healthcare decisions may avoid costly healthcare events, such as emergency room visits. With Select Specialty, plan sponsors realize, on average, a 28 percentage-point increase in patients filling specialty prescriptions through CuraScript. Because the program still allows the patient a choice in pharmacies, we minimize member disruption.
