TRICARE Retail Network Change FAQs

I don’t currently use CVS. Do I need to do anything?

No. Just keep in mind that CVS, including CVS pharmacies in Target stores, are no longer in the retail network as of Dec. 1. If you fill prescriptions at any CVS pharmacy, you will have to pay the full retail cost of the medication.

Is there a grace period that allows me to still fill my prescription at CVS?

No. If you fill a prescription at CVS, including CVS pharmacies in Target stores, it is now considered a non-network pharmacy, and you will have to pay the full cost of the medication upfront and file for partial reimbursement. Visit TRICARE non-network pharmacies to learn more.

What would happen if I tried to fill a prescription at Walgreens before Dec. 1?

You can now fill all of your prescriptions at any Walgreens location. If you would have tried to fill a prescription at Walgreens before Dec. 1, it would have been considered a non-network pharmacy, and you would have paid the full cost of the medication upfront and had to file for a partial reimbursement. Could I have moved my prescription to Walgreens before Dec. 1?

Yes. Walgreens accepted prescription transfers before Dec. 1. You were able to transfer your prescriptions to Walgreens before Dec. 1, but if you tried to fill your prescriptions at Walgreens before then, you would’ve had to pay the full cost of the medication upfront and had to file for partial reimbursement. If you fill prescriptions at Walgreens now, you will only pay your usual in-network TRICARE pharmacy costs as Walgreens is now included in your network as of Dec. 1. Will my copay change?

No. There are no changes to your TRICARE pharmacy copays because of the retail network change.
