TRICARE Retail Network Change Specialty FAQs

I need my specialty prescriptions right away. How can I speed up my prescription transfers to another network pharmacy?

The easiest way to move your specialty prescriptions to a new network pharmacy is to take your current prescription bottles to your new pharmacy and ask the pharmacist there to contact your old pharmacy to initiate the transfer. If you live close to a military pharmacy, you can also transfer your prescription there. It is best to call and check that the military pharmacy has your specialty medication available. You can always call Express Scripts for assistance at 855.778.1417.

There is no longer a specialty pharmacy near me. How do I get my medication?

Call Express Scripts at 855.778.1417 for assistance. You may also be able to transfer your prescription to TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery. Visit the Specialty Medication Care Management Program for more information.

I’ve been filling several medications for chronic conditions at CVS; will transferring my prescriptions cause a gap in my treatment?

No. Your well-being is very important to TRICARE and Express Scripts, and we want to make sure you get the medications you need, when you need them. We understand that managing multiple medications requires extra care, and we are here to help make it as easy as possible for you.

Call us at 855.778.1417 if you have any questions or need help transferring your specialty medications.

Do I need to tell my doctor about the retail network change?

Yes. If you were using a CVS pharmacy to fill your specialty medications, we recommend that you tell your doctors about the retail network change. Express Scripts has also contacted the doctors who prescribe your specialty medications to inform them of the retail network change.

Once you select your new pharmacy, you’ll want to provide the new pharmacy’s information so your doctor can send your prescriptions there.
