USPS is a valued partner in our delivery process, and we offer our unending support of this critical service. However, we also partner with every national delivery carrier to optimize our efficiency in getting medications to members’ homes.
Keeping our patients – and their medications – safe
Our top priority is the health and safety of our patients, and we take every precaution to ensure their medications arrive safely and on time. Here are some ways we do that:
- Our automated technology allows us to seamlessly transfer the prescriptions between our four pharmacies to optimize the dispensing process, ensure the most efficient dispensing, and navigate potential disruptions, such as a storm.
- Our proprietary software calculates the temperatures along the route and at the destination for temperature-sensitive prescriptions, then determines how many cooling packs and what type of insulated coolers are needed to protect the medication.
- We use every national delivery carrier, including the U.S. Postal Service, to ensure we’re getting packages to patients in the most efficient manner. We stay in contact with these carriers every day to track potential severe storms or other issues, adjusting our shipping methods accordingly to serve our patients without any disruption.
- We use a custom-built process to sort outgoing packages by destination, shortening the time they spend in transit.
Simple, accurate, reliable
We understand that patients need a simple way to manage their prescriptions, such as automatic refills. Patients can opt into this feature on Express-Scripts.com, our mobile app or by calling a pharmacist.
